Semo Truth Engine

The Semo Truth Engine brings two processes together. The first is revealing the truth about each economic activity, with an economic database and a scoring system. The second is deciding value together, with the same open checking pointed at decisions instead of supply chains.

Reveal truth about EACH economic activity

A simulation of the global economy, rebuilt around true pricing. Economic activity is valued by its real social, ecological and practical impact.

At the core is an economic database with a scoring system. Today it scores products in Semo Shopping on one scale, from −100 (degenerative) to +100 (regenerative). The aim is to value each economic activity the same way: every product, service and place.

A price tells you what you pay, not what it costs. True pricing is designed to close that gap. What has better impact is meant to be cheap to buy and profitable to sell. What has worse impact is meant to be expensive to buy and less profitable to sell.

Semo rewards make these values economically real: rewards can only be spent at their true price. That is where Semo is heading: an economy priced by what is good for people and planet.

This game is played by all the users

The economy is built collectively. Anyone can contribute and verify data. In Semo Shopping, people can already add missing products, submit corrections, and rate and review. Every correction improves the database for everyone.

Checking is designed to happen in the open. Every vote on a piece of data carries a comment, flags can themselves be flagged, and every removal is logged publicly so it can be challenged. Contributions are meant to be rewarded, and data that is harder to verify is meant to earn more.

The more people play, the more demand there is for truth. More users means more incentive for organisations to become truly responsible and truly transparent.

A playful experiment for a democratic economy

We decide value together. Semo combines different decision-making frameworks to explore how collective intelligence can govern an economy.

How we decide is part of what we decide. One decision can be counted in six ways: majority, delegate, quadratic, proximity-weighted, time-based and time-weighted. The same people with the same preferences can still produce different winners. The aim is to test these methods openly, as experiments, and gradually mature the way we make decisions together.

In Semo’s design, votes decide what matters, never what is true. The community weighs how much each social, ecological and practical aspect should count. The facts stay with the data.

These frameworks can be used at scale for simulations, referenda and other real-world decisions. Semo Vote makes collective decision-making part of everyday life.
